The Delaware 5K
Once again in 2025, the 5K distance will be an official part of the festivities! The inclusion of this distance ensures that there is a race distance for participants of every ability!

REQUIREMENTS
You must be 5 years old to race in the 5K race. Registrants must be able to complete the 3.1 mile course in 1 hour and 30 minutes. Those under the age of 5 may be able to participate and should request a waiver by contacting customerservice@corrigansports.com
FIELD SIZE
The 5k field will be limited to 500 participants. Please register early.
REGISTRATION
Online registration for the Delaware Marathon™ will close April 5, 2025 at 4:00 pm or earlier if the field is filled. In-Person Registration will be available at packet pick up if space remains. Please register early to take advantage of the best pricing and to avoid a sellout.

Opportunities to Upgrade to a longer distance, downgrade to a shorter distance or defer your entry until 2026 are available with specific deadlines. Details and deadlines are available on our FAQs page.

2025 5K COURSE
This is a new route for the 5k, completely in the city. The route follows portions of the full and half marathon routes. We are excited to offer this unique route to those who typically run 5k events in Wilmington. The route is subject to change at any time.
JOIN A SOCIAL TEAM
Having the support of your friends during your training and race is priceless, but we decided to add an extra incentive! Regardless of when your teammates register, the entire group will get a $10 refund once your team reaches 10 or more members. The refund will go directly back to the card used to pay for registration. PLUS there’s potential for teams to win extra benefits and deals!

2025 RACE PREMIUMS
You will commemorate your race day experience with a short sleeve Under Armour tech tee emblazoned with the special take on the official race logo. This name-brand training shirt does everything you need your quality training gear to do which will allow you to wear it with pride as you tout your accomplishments around town at the gym, grocery store or where ever you visit!
2025 MEDAL
This year's finisher medallion includes a fresh design that includes a map of downtown Willmington inclusive of Tubman-Garrett Park, (homebase for the start, finish and post race festivities) as well as a translucent view of the Christina River. Its sure to be the gem of your collection as you show it off on Medal Mondays!
5K AWARDS
Overall Winners: Trophies will be awarded to the overall male and female champions and to the second and third-place finishers.
Awards Ceremony: The awards ceremony will take place at the main stage in the center of Tubman Garrett Riverfront Park at 8:30am. Only the overall winners from the full marathon, half marathon, 10k and 5k will be awarded at the ceremony. Age group awards will be mailed.
Age Groups: Prizes go to the top three non-elite male and female age group finishers for the half-marathon in each of the following divisions: 16& Under, 17-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35- 39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70+
(NOTE: There must be a minimum of 5 competitors in a given age group in order for an award to be issued. The event reserves the right to reduce or eliminate awards in a given age group if there are less than 5 participants.)
Age group awards will be mailed within a month after the event after finishing times have been verified.
