You may use whatever timing and distance tracking method/app that you chose. You are not required to submit your time, however, if you want your time posted online, you must submit your time on Run Sign Up by April 30th. Regardless of whether or not you submit your time, you will get your premium and medal.
We will send our more details regarding virtual run instructions leading up to the race!
I cannot run - May I defer?
If you are longer able to participate in the 2025 race, we are offering DEFERRALS until two weeks before the race. There is a $25 processing fee to defer.

The processing fee is set in place by our registration providers, it’s how they make a living. The registration providers maintain registrations, and help out with development of our system over time – they do great things for us and for you! We cannot waive processing fees.
We do not allow for paper, mailed or faxed registrations, and even if we did we would still be required to include the processing fee.
How do I update information on my registration?
You can log in to your registration to edit your personal registration information excluding name, birthday, and gender. If you need to edit one of those categories please email customer service.
The deadline to make changes to your personal registration information is Friday, March 21, 2025.

May I upgrade or downgrade?
Yes, you may upgrade or downgrade your race distance as long as the field is not filled. May I get a refund?
The Delaware Marathon Running Festival does not allow for refunds or transfers of entry fee under any circumstances.
This event may be cancelled or postponed due to circumstances beyond the control of Corrigan Sports Enterprises, Inc. Inclement weather, or emergencies such as public safety, public health concerns or municipal directives, can impact the implementation of a race. Public safety measures such as these may cause Corrigan Sports Enterprises to cancel or postpone this event. Race entry fee refunds or future race credits will not be issued under these public safety conditions.
We maintain the right to cancel or modify the race in the interest of public safety. Public safety officials and medical authorities will be consulted prior to any race cancellation or modification. Alteration of the course or race length may be implemented as an option to ensure a safer race environment.
However, you may defer to next year’s event for a $25 admin fee.
To take advantage of this offer please log into RunSignUp and Click Here to manage your registration. Click the defer registration option in the middle of the grey menu bar and process your deferral payment. You will receive an email with a link to sign up for the 2024 race when registration reopens.
Why do I have to pay a deferral fee?
There are several reasons for the deferral fee. First, we’ve already counted you in our orders for shirts, medals, bags, food, etc. – things we place orders for months in advance. It also covers costs of making the adjustments and retaining the records.
May I transfer my registration to another runner?
No, we do not allow for registration transfers. If another runner is caught running with your bib intentionally you and the other runner will be barred from joining in our events again.
I already registered to run live, but did not select to get my packet mailed to me. How can I add that on?
Visit your Run Sign Up Profile HERE and select “Manage Add ons.” From there, you will be able to add on the packet mailing option for $25. Bibs & Shirts will be mailed by priority mail prior to the race with a trackable link. Medals will be distributed after the race.
The last day to make this change is March 21, 2025 at 11:59PM.

We do place Pace (starting) signs along the Start line to facilitate a smooth start and we encourage participants to line up according to their expected pace.
If we add pacers we will update this information accordingly.
How hilly is the course?
The course is mostly flat and fast. The hills are not severe; the most significant hill climbs 180 feet over a one-mile distance between Miles 6-7. There are some bridges and overpasses on the Jack Markell Trail but short and sweet in terms of hills.
Where are the water stations?
We have water stations roughly every 1.5 miles.

RACE DAY QUESTIONS: CELEBRATION VILLAGE & SPECTATORS
What will the security presence be?
As a small marathon, we do not have a large security risk. There will be uniformed police and K-9 units at the event. We encourage you to use clear bags at the runner bag check-in located in Tubman Park. Unattended bags or packages will be confiscated. Please report all suspicious activity to a race official or public safety personnel.
Where should I park?
Traffic delays and parking restrictions will occur beginning early Sunday morning.
Please visit our Travel & Accommodations page for more information and planning tools.
What if I need to leave early?
You should not have a problem.
Exit the Riverfront via West or Justison Street to MLK Blvd and look for the signs directing you to I-95. You will not encounter the race route on your way out.
Where are the bathrooms near the start/finish line?
All portable toilets are located at the AMTRAK end of the park, at the back end of the S. French Street surface parking lot. There are restrooms in the AMTRAK station, at the Riverfront Market and in the Shipyard Shops.
On the course, there are portable toilets at or near every water station.
May I set up a tent at the park?
Unfortunately, the small size of Tubman Park requires us, for the safety and comfort of all concerned, to restrict open tents or picnicking on the event footprint. Therefore, there are to be NO tents or outside food at Tubman Garrett Riverfront Park without the express written permission of the event organizers.
A very small number of team tents will be available at no cost, however, please be advised that demand for these locations far outweighs supply! To request consideration for a tailgating spot, please email us.
Decisions will be made partly on the size of the group; partly on when the request is received/availability; and partly on the basis of your group’s connection to the event, with beneficiaries, volunteers, and participant groups receiving priority.
Will food be available for sale to the general public?
The food inside the Hospitality Tent is for the runners only! Food will be available to runners after they cross the Finish Line at the Runner’s Hospitality Tent. This area will be stocked with bottled water, Gatorade, fruit, granola bars, chips and the ever popular chocolate milk!
In addition these items food and beer will be available to the general public for a small cost.
Where are the best viewing areas for spectators?
Brandywine Park is roughly two miles from the Start and the marathoners traverse this park twice during the race. Also, the Kentmere Parkway and Bancroft Parkway sections of the course (off Pennsylvania Avenue) are also quite nice.
Do expect traffic delays at Pennsylvania Avenue & Bancroft Parkway and at the 9th and Union Streets intersections. Pre-plan your route and have fun!
My family is coming to watch - What do they need to know?
Spectators are welcome! Traffic delays and parking restrictions will occur throughout the morning. The intersection of MLK Boulevard and South Market Street will be closed during the event. Parking will be a challenge due to all the Riverfront activities. Throughout the morning, traffic will be heavy in the Riverfront and other sections of the course. Expect traffic delays.
