The fields for the Delaware Marathon Running Festival are now closed and our files have been turned over to the timing and scoring company. We tried hard to accept as many registrants as possible and scrambled to increase the field from 2000 runners to 2200 runners, our largest field ever! We appreciate your interest in our event. Expect two instructional emails with race day and parking and traffic information. Finally, volunteers are still needed for Friday after work, Saturday, and Sunday. The Delaware Half Marathon and the Delaware Relay Marathon are closed. Due to the large number of registrations recently received, we cannot accept any more registrations in this year’s half marathon or relay fields. There are a limited number of slots left in the full marathon but this will also sell out in a few more days. This year’s field will be limited to 650 marathoners; 750 half marathoners and 700 relay team runners. We encourage you to register early in 2011.

We are pleased to announce that the Mid-Atlantic Dairy Association has agreed to become our Relay sponsor and will be promoting their Fuel Up with Chocolate Milk campaign at the Delaware Marathon. We have 323 marathon registrants; 305 half marathon registrants; and 235 registered relay runners. Thank you to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Delaware who has joined our roster of supporting sponsors. We are looking for a few more groups who are interested in helping out at the marathon. A perfect opportunity to give something back to the community. Email or call us.

We have 205 marathon registrants; 157 half-marathon registrants and 12 registered relay teams. The field is growing nicely and our 2009 winner, Marco Capelli of Phoenixville, PA will be back to defend his 2:40:13 winning time from last year. Cash prizes totaling $3500 await to our top three M/F marathon winners; our top two Masters M/F marathon winners; our winning M/F half marathon runners; our top M/F half marathon masters runners; and our overall winning relay team.

All Runners: Are you aware that New Balance is providing male and female tech shirts (color ash) to all the participants this year? So, please make sure your shirt size (and other information) is accurate on the race registration pages on our website. Just email us any changes. Also, NKS Distributors is providing pint glasses to all runners.

Delaware Marathon direct mail postcards were mailed this week to all past participants in our events. Didn’t get one – email us and we’d be happy to mail you one. Also, do you know a store/gym/office that will display our 2010 application forms? If so, let us know and we’ll be happy to send you some.

Online registration for our 2010 event with Active.com is now open. Alternatively, you may download our PDF application form from our website and mail in your registration. Are you a member of the 50 States Marathon Club? If so, you may be entitled to a discount in our marathon. Also, our first mass email about our 2010 event went out last week – didn’t get it? – email us and we’ll add you to our list.

We plan to open online registration for our 2010 event with Active.com sometime in September 2009. We will post a link here when the link is activated. We also plan to mail “Save the Date” postcards to all previous registered runners in late October 2009. Please note: we do not plan to produce a printed application form this year. For 2010, you may register online with Active.com or you may print an application form from our website and mail in your registration with your registration fee.

Thank you to Christiana Care Health System, New Balance Delaware, and the City of Wilmington who have agreed to return as sponsors of our 2010 event. We are also pleased to announce that our charity beneficiary line up for 2010 will include Team in Training, Wellness Community Delaware, Heart & Vascular Center @ Christiana Care and the YMCA of Delaware. We are still in discussions with our other business partners and hope to have an updated announcement soon. Finally, we have designed a new logo for our 2010 event – we hope you like it.

Thank You to all the sponsors, vendors, volunteers, and runners who participated in the sixth annual Christiana Care Health System Delaware Marathon Running Festival presented by New Balance Delaware. We had our largest field ever in 2009 with 1993 registrants and 1712 official finishers. Race results are available on the website under Yearly Results and Awards. Congratulations to Marco Capelli and Sarah Milby (our Marathon Winners), Wylie Belasik and Natalie DeGregorio (our Half-Marathon Winners), and the winning New Balance Delaware Racing Team of Patrick Boettcher, Michael Lo Sapio, Jeff Strojny, and Dan Suher (our Relay Winners).
