We have received lots of favorable comments about our
event and some
constructive feedback. Here are some samples:
And thank you again for putting on yesterday's
marathon. Your organization and your volunteers were awesome.
As one of the slow folks out there, I cannot tell you how much I
appreciated the continued course support. I was expecting to be on
the sidewalks and waiting for traffic lights on the last loop-but instead
I was still on the streets, the volunteers were still out there, and the
police officers were still directing traffic. It was absolutely
phenomenal. Now - if you could just do something about the
weather:-) Thanks again. Susan

Great job on this one! You've been
communicating so much via the website, message board, group emails.
It really is terrific! I check the site every day to see the numbers
growing and wow! are they ever. Great turnout from the 50
states club....apparently about 150 club members reuniting in Wilmington.

Wayne, this was a memorable race. To think that
2004 was the inaugural! Everything went well. The aid stations
were placed at good distances, had both water and sports drink, were
staffed by friendly volunteers, and the names on the signs were really
great. Dick Bartlett
I had a great time.....I thought the volunteers were
wonderful and I really enjoyed seeing a bit of your beautiful city.
We 50 staters were very excited about seeing all of the signs with our
names (& DE History) on the side of the road.....nice touch!

Please pass on to all the volunteers how grateful we
marathoners are for their help and support. I often think they have
the hard job of standing there and providing us support. They are
truly wonderful and we could not complete the marathon without them.
I truly appreciate the volunteers staying out there for those of us that
are slow. Thank you volunteers. Carolyn Krumrey,

Wayne, I just wanted to let you know the volunteers
were awesome and a big part of helping me to finish those last grueling
miles. The race was such a success and so very well organized!
Thanks a bunch.

I just wanted to give a huge thumbs up to a great
event. My buddy Jenn Parisi and I came over from New Jersey to run
this past Sunday and had an absolute blast!!! We realize the work
that goes into these events as we are the volunteer coordinators for the
New Jersey Marathon. Hats off to you and your team. If we
don't run next year you can sign us up as volunteers. Tammy Wetzel,
New Jersey
Wayne, Thank you for a great event. I am happy
and proud that my first marathon was successful and as a Delaware native,
in my home State. Friends from Maryland and Texas who came in for
the weekend and ran also had a great weekend. We are already looking
forward to next year. All of the volunteers were supportive and
cheered us on.....from the Wilmington Police Officers to the Marines or
ROTC who cheered us on by yelling "You guys make it look easy." Don
Ostmann, Newark, DE
Well, I thought you had a large number of very
enthusiastic volunteers....above and beyond the normal frequency of water
stops and encouragement! Thank you and them! Rich Holmes
Thank you very much for all of your hard work.
I know putting on any marathon, let alone an inaugural one, is quite a
chore. It was very well organized, better than some that I have been
to that have had a lot more experience putting on a marathon I'm sure.
Congrats to all your help...they were fantastic.

Hi Wayne, All of you did a fantastic job for the
marathon! The volunteers were wonderful; encouraging and
supportive each time we saw them. The marine on the hill was
fabulous, and we looked forward to running by him each way on the hill as
he kept people's spirits up! It was a very nice course, and although
I was not looking forward to 4 repeats, I found that it really helped to
know exactly what I had left to finish. Thank you VERY much!!!

Wayne, I personally know how important volunteers are
to making an event successful. And to receive a note as this from a
volunteer means quite a bit. I have also run several inaugural
events and know they are not always perfect. Your event was run
perfectly. Flawlessly. If I had to be critical or offer
criticism, there would be none. Thank you for the thankless hours
spent in making this event a great running experience and a memorable
first experience in the City of Wilmington. Tom Popp, Indiana
Congratulations on an extremely well organized event.
I really appreciate the opportunity to have been part of the inaugural
Delaware Marathon. Thanks. Terry Blackwell
Thank you and your wife for organizing a very nice
marathon, everything worked out very well and I had a great experience.
I hope I will see you next year. Francisco Rodriguez, NY, New York
